Classic Nude Scene: Katie Holmes Topless in “The Gift”
Ah another classic nude scene that features a good girl from a TV show gone bad. First we featured Jessie Spano’s turn from smartest girl at Bayside to dirty stripper girl, today we feature Katie Holmes, who played the wholesome, cool, almost tomboy Joey Potter on Dawson’s Creek.
Joey Potter was the hot girl that seemed like an awesome girlfriend who could hang out and be a movie nerd, while still being hot but remaining pretty wholesome. Keep in mind, this was before the Katie Holmes of Tom Cruise, Scientology, alien babies, etc., etc. This was really the first time we saw Katie Holmes and the image we got was that of Joey Potter…..SO imagine my shock when years back as I was browsing the net, I believe I was on the good old “Robb’s Celebs” site that some of you may be familiar with from back in the day, and I read “Katie Holmes naked in new movie” or something to that effect.
My first thought was, “Great, another sad attempt at a fake,” but then, there it was, Joey Potter, err, Katie Holmes from a scene from a movie called “The Gift,” standing there with her boobs exposed. I remember sending the link to a friend who REFUSED to believe this pic was real, and there was just no way young sweet Katie Holmes would do such a dirty scene…a shocking moment indeed. It would have been less shocking if this happened maybe before Dawson’s Creek or even after, but this came out right when Dawson’s Creek was the hot show, so I guess Katie figured she needed to break from her clean Joey Potter role and she accomplished that since the character in “The Gift” is a slut who wants to fuck everyone, so she’s the anti-Joey.
Word has it that the scene originally was written for the character to be nude in this scene, but Katie Holmes chose to wear panties, damn the luck. But luckily these are some small white see-through thong panties so we pretty much get to see it all, especially if you pause just right. Speaking of, when Katie Holmes spoke of her nude role, she commented on being worried that everyone would be pausing the DVD on this scene; well, yeah, and we still are almost 10 years later!
